Dr. Sarah Sugden, Au.D, F-AAA

Dr. Sugden is a New York State licensed Audiologist who has been helping people escape their isolation and regain their hearing for more than 20 years.  Doctor Sugden opened Watertown Audiology PC in 1999. She has since expanded her practice to include both Audiology and Physical Therapy services. establishing East Coast Audiology and Physical Therapy with her brother and co-founder Dr. Joel Grimshaw.  Together they lead the perfect team in diagnosing and treating balance and vestibular disorders in the same location.  They have since opened two additional offices in New York and will be opening up a fourth practice in November 2021 in Surprise, Arizona.  She obtained her clinical Doctorate Degree in Audiology from the University of Florida, Gainesville, received a Masters in Audiology from Syracuse University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Nazareth College in Rochester.  She has extensive experience with adult and pediatric hearing testing, tinnitus evaluations, hearing aid fittings and management, as well as balance assessments and dizziness evaluations.  Doctor Sugden has also obtained several certifications in concussion diagnosis and managements, as well as vestibular rehabilitation and balance therapy through Fyzical.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, outdoor water activities such as boating and jet skiing, spending time on Lake Ontario at her cottage, and traveling. 

Dr. Joel Grimshaw, PT, DPT

Dr. Grimshaw is a New York State licensed Physical Therapist and has been helping patients reach their rehabilitations goals for over 20 years.  Dr. Grimshaw has worked in multiple setting including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, nursing homes, home health care and outpatient sports and orthopedic rehabilitation.  He joined Watertown Audiology in 2017 and brought in Physical Therapy Services. He has since co-founded East Coast Audiology and Physical Therapy with his sister Dr. Sarah Sugden.  Together they lead the perfect team in diagnosing and treating balance and vestibular disorders in the same location.  Dr. Grimshaw earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, and received a Master’s Degree at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar Missouri.  He has worked in multiple settings including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, nursing homes, home health care and outpatient sports and orthopedic rehabilitation.  He has continued his education and training to include McKenzie Mechanical Evaluation and Treatment as well as multiple sports and orthopedic related courses.  He has obtained several certification in vestibular rehabilitation and balance therapy through Fyzical.  He specializes in Balance and Vestibular rehab, neurological rehabilitation, and concussion management.  His patients range from young children to elderly adults.  In his free time, he enjoys boating on Lake Ontario, hunting and fishing and spending time with family.

Dr. Mary Catherine Castor, Au.D., CCC-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Castor is a New York State licensed Audiologist and has been with our practice since June 2018.  She obtained her clinical Doctorate Degree in Audiology from Gallaudet University of Washington, D.C., and Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences with honors from SUNY Plattsburgh.  She completed her fourth-year audiology externship with Watertown Audiology.  Dr. Castor has experience with adult and pediatric hearing testing, hearing aid fittings and hearing aid management, as well as vestibular testing (balance and dizziness testing), tinnitus evaluations and newborn hearing screenings.  She also earned her Clinical Certificate from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).  Dr. Castor has completed certifications in vestibular rehabilitation and balance therapy through Fyzical. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors and enjoying the Thousands Island and St. Lawrence River.

Dr. Sgroi is a New York state licensed Audiologist and has been with our practice since June 2017. He obtained his clinical doctorate degree in Audiology from Salus University of Pennsylvania and Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from SUNY Fredonia.  Prior to joining Watertown Audiology for his fourth-year externship, Dr. Sgroi garnered valuable experience in a busy hospital and clinical setting in the Department of Otolaryngology at Temple University in Philadelphia.  He has experience with adult and pediatric hearing testing, hearing aid fittings and hearing aid.  He also performs tinnitus evaluations, vestibular testing (balance and dizziness testing) and Central Auditory Processing Disorder testing.  He also earned his Clinical Certificate from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). In his free time, he enjoys traveling, spending time with family and cooking

Dr. Yuejun (Michelle) Wang, Au.D., CCC-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Wang is a New York State licensed Audiologist and has been with East Coast Audiology and Physical Therapy since August 2019.  She obtained her clinical Doctorate Degree in Audiology from Salus University of Pennsylvania.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from SUNY Buffalo.  Prior to joining East Coast Audiology and Physical Therapy for her fourth-year externship, Dr. Wang had extensive clinical experience in the following settings: ENT, VA hospital and VA outpatient clinic settings.  Dr. Wang has experience with adult and pediatric testing, hearing aid fitting and management, as well as vestibular balance testing and tinnitus evaluations. She earned her Clinical Certificate from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Dr. Briana Stanikmas, Au.D., CCC-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Stanikmas is a New York State licensed Audiologist and has been with East Coast Audiology and Physical Therapy since June 2020.  She obtained her clinical Doctorate Degree in Audiology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  She received her Bachelor Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Worcester State University.  Prior to joining East Coast Audiology and Physical Therapy for her fourth-year externship, Dr. Stanikmas had extensive clinical experience in the following settings: ENT, Private Practice, and the Children’s Hospital/Craniofacial Unit.  Dr. Stanikmas specialized in vestibular, adult and pediatric diagnostics and hearing aid fittings, central auditory processing evaluations, cochlear implants, tinnitus, and aural rehabilitation.  When not at work, Dr. Stanikmas enjoys exploring the outdoors with her two dogs and traveling.

Dr. Meredith Bossinger

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Bossinger has been our practice since April 2018. She obtained her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy and Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science from Daemen College in Amherst, New York.  She previously worked in outpatient rehabilitation at Samaritan Medical Center and Carthage Area Hospital, where she saw patients of all ages, specializing in treating orthopedic conditions and infants with torticollis, She has obtained several certifications in Vestibular Rehabilitation and Balance Therapy through Fyzical and American Institute of Balance.  She also has her Level 1 RockTape Certification.  She likes skiing, riding all-terrain vehicles and spending time outdoors with her family.

Dr. Allan Litterio

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Litterio is a New York state licensed Physical Therapist and has been with our practice since December 2019.  He obtained his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Utica College, and his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Health Studies with honors from Utica College.  He worked for Mohawk Valley Health Systems in sub-acute inpatient rehab for over a year gaining experiencing working with patients with neurological deficits (strokes, MS, and patients with balance deficits), orthopedic deficits (Hip, Knee, and shoulder replacements, sprains, strains, and arthritic issues), and patients with cardiovascular deficits (COPD, and CABAGE surgery’s).  Additionally, he practices Physical Therapy in the U.S. Army Reserves as an officer having experience treating soldiers with a variety of orthopedic issues.  Dr. Litterio has also completed certifications in vestibular rehabilitation and balance therapy through Fyzical and has completed the McKenzie A and B courses.  In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, exercising and reading.

Dr. Elisabeth Gahler, PT, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Gahler is a New York State licensed Physical Therapist and has been with our practice since September 2019.  She obtained her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy and Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Sciences from Nazareth College in Rochester, New York.  Dr. Gahler specializes treating people with neurological diagnosis such as Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis, as well as women’s health.  She offers her patients a personalized treatment plan for women who suffer from incontinence, pelvic pain, pregnancy related pain, postpartum problems, diastasis rectus, pelvic organ prolapse, and chronic constipation.  She previously worked in home health care for seven years with adults with neurological diagnoses and pediatrics. She attended Emory University’s Vestibular Rehabilitation Competency Course and obtained several certifications in vestibular rehabilitation and Balance therapy through Fyzical.  Dr. Gahler also attended classes for Pelvic floor rehabilitation through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Floor program.  In her free time, she likes running, hiking and camping and spending time with her husband and children.

Jeffrey Kaplan

Physical Therapist

Jeffrey has been with East Coast Audiology & Physical Therapy since September 2020. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from Daemen College in Amherst, New York, in 2001.  He previously worked in a variety of settings including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and outpatient orthopedics.  Jeffrey has obtained several certifications for concussion rehabilitation from the American Institute of Balance.  In his free time, he likes spending time on Lake Ontario with his family and coaching his sons’ in various sports.

Dr. Kaplan has been with East Coast Audiology and Physical Therapy since May 2020.  She obtained her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from Daemen College in Amherst, New York.   She previously worked in a variety of settings including acute care, in-patient rehabilitation, and pulmonary rehabilitation, with a higher concentration on outpatient orthopedics. Dr. Kaplan has experience with all age groups, including infants and working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  She has obtained several certifications for vestibular and concussion rehabilitation for the American Institute of Balance.  She also is a member of the New York State Board of Physical Therapy.  In her free time, she likes coaching her sons in soccer, basketball and baseball, as well as spending time on Lake Ontario.

Joshua has been with our practice since October 2003.  He has extensive training in hearing aid fitting, selection, and repairs.  Josh enjoys working with patients and teaching them to properly use and take care of their hearing aids.  She studied secondary education with a concentration in history at SUNY Potsdam.  and obtained his Associates Degree from Jefferson Community College.

Hearing Aid Coordinator

Cary has been with our practice since February 2012.   She has a full understanding of our patient’s needs and sees that they are scheduled in a timely manner and have everything they need when visiting our office for hearing aid appointments and repairs.  All hearing aid: ordering, authorizations, insurance, and repairs are coordinated through Cary for all 3 of our office locations.  If you are inquiring about new hearing aids, Cary is the perfect person to talk to as she has full understanding of every aspect of the hearing aid process and can guide you through all the steps necessary to obtain new hearing aids.

Jordon Ray

Hearing Aid Coordinator

Jordon has been with East Coast Audiology and Physical Therapy (DBA Watertown Audiology) since August 2018. Jordon is great with technology and is able to help patients program their new hearing aids. She is also amazing at repairs and cleaning, keeping your hearing aids working for you. Jordon enjoys spending time with the patients and getting to know about their lives and interests.  Jordon earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders & Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Literacy. She has over 10 years experience as a Speech Language Therapist, before joining us at East Coast Audiology and Physical Therapy. She knows the importance of language and hearing in all ages, and her 10 years working with children has made her an absolute asset to our Audiology team.

Lindsey has been with our practice since August 2018. She obtained her Associates Degree for Physical Therapy Assistant from SUNY Canton.  Prior to Fyzical, she gained valuable clinical experience in outpatient rehabilitation for orthopedics and Samaritan Medical Center for medical-surgery patients.  She has obtained several certifications in vestibular rehabilitation and balance therapy through Fyzical.  In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors and attending her children’s sporting events (hockey, lacrosse and figure skating.

Physical Therapist Assistant

Shawn has been with our practice since July 2019.  He obtained his Associates Degree for Physical Therapy Assistant from SUNY Canton and Bachelor’s of Science Degree from SUNY Potsdam.  Prior to Fyzical, he gained valuable clinical experience in outpatient rehabilitation facilities throughout the North Country.  He has acquired several certifications in vestibular rehabilitation and balance through Fyzical.  In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and hockey, spending time with his family and boating on the St. Lawrence River.
