Signs You May Need Physical Therapy

Physical therapy may be right for you if you are experiencing:

  • Pain that is limiting your daily activities or exercise

  • Difficulty walking, balancing, or feeling steady

  • Dizziness or vertigo symptoms

  • Weakness, stiffness, or reduced mobility

  • Recovery after surgery or injury

  • Ongoing neck, back, joint, or muscle pain

  • Trouble returning to sports or physical activity

  • Frequent falls or fear of falling

  • Concussion symptoms affecting movement or balance

  • Difficulty completing everyday tasks comfortably

What to Expect During a Physical Therapy Evaluation

1. Initial Evaluation & Establishing a Baseline

Your first visit is focused on understanding your symptoms, movement, and goals. Your physical therapist will discuss your medical history, daily activities, pain, balance concerns, dizziness, injury, or mobility limitations. A comprehensive evaluation will then be performed to establish a baseline of your strength, balance, flexibility, coordination, posture, range of motion, walking mechanics, and overall function.

2. Specialized Testing as Needed

Depending on your condition, additional testing may be performed for balance and vestibular issues, concussion symptoms, neurological conditions, orthopedic injuries, sports rehabilitation, or other movement-related concerns.

3. One-on-One Physical Therapy Care

At ECAPT, you’ll receive individualized, one-on-one care from a licensed physical therapist focused on your specific needs, recovery, and goals.

4. Customized Treatment Plan

Based on your evaluation findings, your therapist will create a personalized treatment plan designed to help reduce pain, improve movement, restore function, and support your long-term health and wellness goals.

5. Beginning Treatment & Progress Monitoring

In many cases, treatment may begin during your first visit and can include guided exercises, hands-on therapy, balance activities, stretching, education, or techniques to improve mobility and reduce discomfort. Throughout your therapy journey, we continually monitor your progress using objective measurements and clinical findings to track improvements, identify what is working well, and determine areas that may need additional focus or adjustments to your treatment plan.
